A trip to the Falls

We went for a little hike to Kootenai Falls on Christmas Eve day.  It was pretty chilly out, and the trees and water were frosty but still gorgeous.
We had cherry noses and red-apple cheeks, just like santa!

Thanks Grandma for watching Cash while Tyler, Shawn and I got to look at the pretty scenery!

Before Christmas

We're on vacation this week at Shawn's parents.
We got to watch some old timers move an old Shay locomotive at the local museum.

It would have been really neat to see it fired up and chugging, but since it is in the process of being restored it had to be pulled along the track.

We also went out for a 4-wheeler ride in the 20 degree weather.

Brrrr!!!  It was still fun though, and we needed the fresh air.

These guys rode while I walked alongside.

Decker's enjoying himself also.  The sun and snow are gorgeous on the mountains, and it is great to be here for the week.

Double-take

Nobody set these pictures up, I promise!
Three years ago, Shawn found that turning the fan on in the bathroom and bouncing Tyler on his knee would calm Tyler down.  So I would often find them in there on the evenings that Tyler was unconsolable.

It came as no surprise the other night when I found Shawn and Cash in the bathroom.  Cash was bouncing on Shawn's knee and the fan was on.
What makes me laugh is that 3 years later, Shawn is wearing nearly identical clothes.  His hair is grayer though.  I wonder what caused that?

Rejected Christmas Photos

This one didn't make it for obvious reasons

No one was ready for this photo.

Cash has a look of disgust.  Christmas is supposed to be a happy time! Tyler's smile is very genuine though.

Tyler thought he could quickly and secretly pick his nose before the shutter went off

One of many photos where Tyler said his shirt was itchy or too tight.

Weekend Away

We met up with family this weekend to watch Matthew play in a Basketball tournament. (he's in the green on the back right)
It's always fun to watch someone you know play!

The town had a skating rink that was lit up and had music playing.  Once again, I missed a chance to go ice skating because none of us brought skates.  That might be one activity that I never do in my life.  I will have to put it on my bucket list.

The next morning there was someone out there getting the warming hut heated up, and spraying water to smooth the ice.  It was pretty darn cold out there!

Grandma, Tyler, and aunt Laura went out to slide around without falling down.

We did attempt to get a family photo.  Notice baby Cash in the carseat, obviously not enjoying himself.

Almost got a smile today

Cash has thrush, and relayed the yeast infection on to me.  Nursing has been a nightmare, but things are slowly getting better (I think).
I'm glad he is beginning to react to my baby-talk and cooing, because all the work associated with tackling the thrush is starting to get me down.  From super-sterilizing bottles and droppers, washing all clothes and towels in hot water daily, and meticulously applying anti-fungal creams to he and I, everything has been more work.
Lately I've been walking around the house smelling like raw garlic, vitamin C, probiotics, and vinegar (which are all natural remedies to combat the infection).
SIGH, hope this all gets better soon...

Cookie Exchange!

A friend and I hosted a cookie exchange at the local coffee shop.  While we didn't have nearly the amount of people show up as we had hoped, we still got a variety of cookies.  I had a great time--met some new people and got to drink a glass of wine.
Shawn stayed home with Cash while Tyler and I went to the "party."

The owner of the shop is an artist, and has a studio inside.  She also displays and sells other artist's work.

Tyler didn't have a very hard time finding new friends to entertain.  These girls would make GREAT babysitters, they were so nice and helpful.

Wild West Christmas Fest

We all went to Ovando this weekend, to check out the Christmas Fest.
There was a museum to browse through....

...and a Craft Fair to shop at.  It was up an icy road, but it was nice to get out and get fresh air.

Tyler and Pop pop made a gingerbread house.  It was the first time for both of them to make one.  Now that we know how to do it, we can make some at home.

Then the magical man showed up on a horse.

We thought Tyler would be alarmed and scared of Cowboy Claus.

But he wasn't!  He went right up and gave him a hug.

If I want to keep putting pictures on here, I will have to do it unedited.  I realize I don't have time to make them all look perfect...

Thanksgiving Day morning--smiling like I'm not sleep-deprived.

Tyler was ready to eat way before everyone else.

Shawn devoured the wing

How I spend most of my time--nursing the baby while shoveling down food.

Look at that bird!  We were fortunate to have a Heritage turkey from Prairie Heritage Farm for our meal (see website on left)

Jess and Jason made it down for the weekend

the big day wore this little turkey out

My mini-adventure

Shawn shot a buck yesterday, and he invited me to go along today to pack it out. Woohoo! I got out of the house while the boys were baby-sat by Grammy and Pop-pop.

View down the mountain to our house.
Prepping the deer to pack it out

Loaded up and headed down to the house

Boys boys

Babies have such clear eyes.  This is Angel-boy Cash in a moment of contentment.

What to do on a snowy, windy day?  Line up all your cars and trucks.
Note to self...Tyler doesn't need any more cars for Christmas.
